Open Connect Limited (OCL), a wholesale telecommunication service provider, has partnered Information Communication Technology Association of Malawi (ICTAM) as their official communication partner.

Unveiling the partnership at its offices in Blantyre on Tuesday, OCL Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sandile Dhlomo said the objective of the partnership is to steer robust communication, interaction or engagements and collaboration in the ICT industry.

"The COVID- 19 pandemic has shown us that there are clear gaps in the sector and there is need for collaboration amongst players in the sector and this partnership will amongst other activities, put together platforms to enable powerful conversations and interactions. Under this partnership, OCL will finance ICTAM’s communication plans,” Dhlomo said.

ICTAM president Bram Fudzulani said they are grateful for the OCL support.

“It is very important for ICTAM as a professional body to engage with multiple players in the ICT industry as well as other sectors to discuss solutions to advance our economy, enhance digital literacy and influence policies.

“This partnership will enable ICTAM to spearhead communication & interaction within the sector and share vital information to multiple stakeholders across all sectors,” Fudzulani said.

Fudzulani said they have devised channels to reach out to the public in spearheading the communication and interaction and will in the next phase consider those accessible by a large audience, like radio.

OCL is an open access infrastructure company with the biggest optic fibre infrastructure in Malawi having taken it over from MTL.
